Celebrating his second anniversary this month, Patrick Bailey is one of Lure’s talented servers. When he’s off the clock, he enjoys acting, comic sketching and rocking out to Kim Petrus, Lizzo and Kesha. Learn more about Patrick in today’s #FGRFamily Spotlight!
How long have you been working with Fifth Group?
I’m celebrating two years at Lure this month.
Where are you from originally?
I moved here from Pensacola, Fl. I got into SCAD and wanted to move to a bigger city. I was a sequential art major with the intent of becoming a comic book artist.
Are you still pursuing comic books?
I’ve been trying to do more comic sketching recently. I would still love to have my own comic book series, but my focus has shifted because I want to concentrate on acting too. It would be cool to be like James Franco and do different things and have my hands in different places.
Tell me more about your acting career.
I’ve done a lot of film and TV, but am open to doing all of it. I also like stage theater and think it would be really fun. I like doing different styles of acting, like in the movie, “The Favorite.” It’s not a comedy, but a comedic/dramatic hybrid.
What’s your dream role?
My dream role was Iron Man, but it was already taken. I would like to do an action/superhero movie. If they ever did another Avengers film, that would be cool.
What part of town do you live in?
I recently moved to the Brookwood area area near Piedmont Hospital in between Midtown and Buckhead. I love it and it’s a lot closer to things within walking distance, etc.
What is your dream order at Lure?
I would start with our recently added little gem salad (our version of a wedge salad), but without bacon since I’m a vegetarian. The cauliflower steak is amazing, so I would choose that for my main course. The chocolate layer cake for dessert. For my drink, I would choose Arboles, a cabernet Bordeaux blend.
What is your favorite wine pick at Lure?
One of my favorite white wines on the menu is Domaine Marcel Deiss from Alsace. It’s pretty light and really easy to drink. It has a nice floral quality that makes it crisp and a little different; not like a citrusy pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc. I would pair it with our tuna ceviche and coconut snowball dessert.
What’s your favorite Thanksgiving side?
Last year was my first Thanksgiving as a vegetarian. I love my mom’s squash casserole and you can never go wrong with some good mashed potatoes or macaroni and cheese.
What 3 songs are on rotation on your playlist?
I like music that motivates me to get up and move. I love the new Kesha song, “Raising Hell” and am so excited for her new album. I’ve also been listening to a lot of Kim Petrus lately and am going to her concert soon. And anything by Lizzo – you can’t go wrong with any of her songs.
What is your all-time favorite movie?
Do you have any hidden talents?
I sing all the time and am pretty good at it. Once you get to know me, it’s not hidden. Also, I don’t think a lot of people know about my ability to draw. They don’t realize how well I can do it until they see it.
What is your favorite dish to make at home?
I’m the worst at cooking for myself. I mostly cook breakfast for myself – like an omelet. Lately, I’ve been putting in onions, greens and Swiss cheese.
Where was the last place you traveled?
NYC last June. I was there for World Pride and stayed with some friends from Brooklyn.
When you’re not at Lure, where is your favorite FGR restaurant to dine?
El Taco! It’s super chill and is an easy spot to go and hangout. I always order guacamole and recently tried the vegan bowl and love it.
What is your favorite part about being in the FGR family?
My favorite part is feeling like I’m part of a family. We take care of each other just as much as we take care of customers that come through the restaurant.
