With a brother and sister in the restaurant industry, joining the Fifth Group family was a natural fit for Cyrus Naderi. A beloved bartender at Lure, Cyrus enjoys getting to know his guests and bonding with his co-workers. Get to know him (and his favorite 90s wrestlers) below in today’s #FGRFamily spotlight!
What is your favorite part about bartending at Lure?
I really like that I get to be myself behind the bar. I get to connect with new people every day, which is a fun part of my job.
How long have you been with Fifth Group Restaurants?
About a year now.
How did you get into the restaurant industry?
My family is in the restaurant business, so I was always interested in the industry. My sister works with Cane’s, my brother is the beverage director at the Ravinia, my brother-in-law is an executive chef – the list goes on!
What is your favorite part of being a part of the FGR Family?
Everyone you meet here is professional, yet approachable. We all work hard, but at the end of the day, we still act like ourselves and have a good time on the job.
What’s your favorite dish at Lure?
It depends on the day, but right now I’m craving the swordfish or the carpaccio.
100% a julep. I’ve always liked the flavor profile.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Atlanta, but I moved around a lot when I was young. Argentina, Mexico – you name it!
Out of all the places you have lived, which is your favorite?
Argentina is really nice. I’ve been wanting to go back ever since we moved away.
Do you still travel often?
I try to! I’m going to Barcelona soon, so I’m really looking forward to that.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself?
I can cook amazing Persian food. I like using old recipes and spicing them up a little.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Atlanta when you’re not working?
I enjoy playing guitar and basketball with my son.
What is your food-related guilty pleasure?
I have a few random ones: chips and salsa, double cheeseburgers from McDonald’s, strawberry shortcake popsicles. I could go on!
What is your favorite band/artist?
It’s tough to pick. Hall & Oates, Young Thug, The Cure. Just depends on the day!
Who is your favorite celebrity chef?
I watch a lot of Chef’s Table – Dominique Crenn is my all time favorite.
Which three adjectives best describe you?
What do they say on the news? Dedicated. Determined. Dependable. That applies here, too.
Who inspires you most in your career?
My sister because of everything she has achieved in the industry, and my brother because of the way he brings his personality into his career. They are both really good examples for me.
If you could invite one person, living or dead to dinner at a Fifth Group Restaurant, where would you take them and why?
Can I take a group? If so, I’m taking Roddy Piper or Randy Savage from the 90’s, David Bowie and maybe Michael Jackson could come to. We’re all going to Ecco Midtown and we’re having a great time at dinner.
