#FGRFamily Spotlight | Barri Ballow

Barri Ballow is a jack of all trades – she’s both a server and bartender at Lure, and in her spare time enjoys cooking and practicing yoga. But did you know she’s also got great TV show and Spotify playlist advice? Check out more about Barri below!

Where are you from?

How long have you been with Fifth Group?

I’ve been at Lure for about 3 years.

What is your favorite part about being part of the Fifth Group family?

I love that there are always opportunities to learn, grow and foster knowledge.

How did your career in hospitality begin?

I started working as a server at 15, and since then I’ve worked at places like Taco Mac and Publik Draft House before landing at Lure.

When you’re not working, what do you love to do?

I love going to yoga, cooking, and traveling.

Where in ATL do you live?

What’s your favorite Fifth Group Restaurants dish?

It’s a tie between the scallops here at Lure and the fried cheese at Alma!

What’s a fun/random fact about yourself?

I’m left-handed.

Any favorite Spotify playlists?

I love the playlist “Soulection” – highly recommend!

 Favorite celebrity chef?

I’m not sure that I have a favorite celebrity chef, but I love Action Bronson and his show “F That’s Delicious.” It’s on Vice and it’s hilarious!

What are three adjectives that best describe you?

Curly, creative, and curious.

Who inspires you most in your career?

There have been so many people who have inspired and mentored me. Sydney Milton, who works at South City Kitchen, really taught me a lot about the Fifth Group culture and how to make it your own, and Beth Jarvis, our beverage director here at Lure, has helped me expand my knowledge of food, beverage and service. Maria Wilson has also been a huge inspiration for me and has helped me to figure out the pace of Fifth Group and how to take care of guests of this caliber.

If you could invite one person, living or dead to dinner at a Fifth Group Restaurant, where would you take them and why?

My grandma – she loved food and drinks and I’d love to share a bottle of wine with her. We’d have to start at Alma and eat fried cheese, and then finish here at Lure.
